Spa Photoshoot

I was asked a couple of weeks ago to collaborate on a photoshoot with a local Branford Spa, Fuzion, to help promote a event space that is attached to their spa. The talented Robin Dini took the gorgeous photographs of the space (and my flowers!). We set the room to look like a small bridal shower taking place...

The Romantic Garden Rose

Perfectly old fashioned and romantic, the Garden Rose makes any arrangement feel lush and extravagant.

Garden Roses have become more and more available in the cut flower market over the past few years. They adorn many of the pages of Martha Stewart Weddings magazine, but they are still an unfamiliar flowers to many of my brides, who have seen and love them but have no idea what they are. Often mistaken for a Peony, they are their perfect replacement when Peonies are not in season: soft, lush and fragrant.

Antiqued Purple and Pink Spring Centerpiece

Yesterday I designed this Dusty Purple, Pink and Ivory centerpiece mock-up for an early April client who is getting married at the Old State House in Hartford. Candice of Jubilee Events is coordinating the affair and picked out the beautiful Ivory satin linens, gold pebbled chargers and patterned china and beautiful stemware to create an elegant look. I can't wait to see the actual event come together in a few weeks!

The lush arrangement features different shades of Roses, Parrot Tulips, Lilacs, Pale Pink Hydrangea, and Dusty Miller accents.

Tulip Season

Although Tulips are not my most requested flower, they really are one of my favorites. I love that they continue to grow even after being cut creating an ever-changing arrangement. And, the fact that they truly look beautiful until the bitter end, I've kept vases of Tulips in my house until it is surrounded by it's own fallen petals.

This time of year the tulips are available in the most gorgeous varieties, the Parrot Tulip being my absolute favorite. Here is a gorgeous Parrot Tulip that I received yesterday (love the variegated leaves!)

New Crop of Wedding Boutiques

I love it when a non-wedding related company decides to give their own spin on weddings, especially when it comes to the fashion side. It gives me a whole new perspective away from the traditional bridal magazines and brands.

When J.Crew entered the world of weddings they seemed to take over the business of bridesmaids' dresses, I would say majority of my bridesmaids' are in some style of J.Crew. And just when I was getting over the surprise of Anthropologie's new BHLDN Bridal Line (who I hear will be coming out with their own wedding decor line soon!!), I just received an email today from one of my favorite online shopping sites, Shopbop.com, announcing that they will be releasing their new wedding boutique today!

Obviously these new wedding outlets are not for every bride--I actually have yet to meet a bride that has bought her dress online--receiving your dress in a box in the mail is not so enticing-- they don't offer the boutique feel and customer service of a small bridal atelier, but it's definitely fun to see some of the leading distributors of Fashion give their take on the Modern American Wedding.

Take your Seat!

Placecard Table displays are usually one of the last details for brides to think about, but it is usually the first thing that your guests see when they arrive at your reception. Having a really stunning or visually interesting display can set the tone for the whole reception.

2011 Season Sneak Peek!

There is lots and lots of romance incorporated in the upcoming season at Blush! Soft pinks, dusty greens, big lush blooms spilling over vintage vases is the popular style for the upcoming season and we couldn't be more excited! Lush garden style arrangements are some of our favorite types to design! Here are a few photos of a mock-up we designed this past week for one of our early Spring brides...

Ranunculus

As Spring is getting closer the thought of all the beautiful early Spring flowers filling my studio is making me happy. One of my favorite Spring flowers are Ranunculus. Each petal is so delicate they remind me of the crepe paper flowers I used to make in elementary school. They come in such an array of colors from soft and feminine to bold and bright. Here are a few of my Ranunculus moments...
