Dahlias!

One of my favorite flowers of Fall are Dahlias. There are so many gorgeous shades and varieties I just love how they always seem to take center stage no matter where they are used. They are also a great local flower, many of the gorgeous Dahlias shown in this post were grown in Guilford, CT by Michael of the beautiful Trout Lily Farms. Here are a few of my faves of this season...

Yacht Club Navy and Yellow Preppy Wedding

A couple of weeks ago Blush designed the flowers for a nautical preppy wedding held at the Guilford Yacht Club on a perfect end-of-summer day. The gorgeous event was coordinated by Candice and the staff Jubilee Events. Navy and White Striped runners (made by the bride!) ran down Navy Linen banquet tables, Brown Chivari chairs held a pillow (handmade by the bride!!) stamped with a quote to reflect the charity they would be donating to in lieu of favors, and yellow and white paper lanterns by Ryan Designs hung from the Sperry Sailcloth tent. I just loved the navy and white polka dot bordered plates! The bride collected picnic baskets and had my design studio fill them with seasonal blooms in yellows and greens. There were so many fun details from this wedding I can't wait to share the professional pictures in the coming weeks. It was a great way to end the summer season!

Bar Mitzvah!

Last weekend we designed these fun flowers for a Bar Mitzvah in Stony Creek. Event design was by Candice of Jubilee Events , event coordination by Kathy of ko'b Events , and the reception was catered by Culinary Concerts.

This beautiful event took place waterfront under a gorgeous tent with sheer fabric sides. Oranges and Yellows were the feature colors with a focus on Protea. Orchids, Craspedia, Ranunculus, Wheat Grass and Geranium Leaf added some more funky textures to the centerpieces which were placed on seersucker linen tablecloths. The custom made Seersucker drum lamps and orange chandeliers were provided by the awesomely creative Ryan Designs.

I just loved this long kid's table! So much fun!!

Colors of Fall

This gorgeous combination of mustard golden Yellow with the silver blue and creamy ivory is a little more subtle and sophisticated than the traditional Fall shades of Orange, Reds and Yellows. Succulents, Craspedia and Dahlias give great textures. So soft and pretty!

Textures

It has been a whirlwind month of events this September which I will be posting pictures of as soon as I have a chance to catch my breath! Last week the studio was full of all kinds of funky textures for a couple of events we designed. Here's a little sneak peek of some of the fun floral elements we had to play with!

I'll be posting the events that these were incorporated in soon!
